      SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST:

      • In addition to the implementation of the ESMP, the Social Development Specialist shall:
      • Oversee the preparation and implementation of RAPs.
      • Ensure the following social risks, in particular, are adequately addressed and monitored at all stages following: Child labor; Gender issues; Sexual harassment; In-migration and related conflicts with communities; and social health, including HIV/AIDS.
      • Complying with the requirements of the Social Management in accordance with the national law and World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESSs).
      • Implementing  Environmental  and  Social  Management  Plan  (ESMP)  as outlined in the project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report of October, 2023
      • Supervise, monitor and report on the effectiveness of implementing social mitigation measures as identified in the ESMP.
      • To carry out Site inspections and WB compliance monitoring as per approved Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP);
      • To  prepare  monthly  and  quarterly  reports  on  Social  performance  and compliance;
      • To carry out on job capacity building on social aspects for the TRC.
      • To collaborate with other Departments and Units in the implementation of the project
      • To liaise with other stakeholders/third parties in ensuring social aspects are being informed to and addressed.
      • Any other related duties assigned by the PM.
    • REQUIRED SKILLS

      Qualification and Experience:

      Social Development Specialist shall have an appropriate Master’s Degree in social sciences, anthropology, development studies or any other related field. He/she shall have at least 10 years of relevant work experience in development projects, including experience within Tanzania. Familiar with national policies and World Bank Environmental and Social Frameworks (ESF) and other relevant guiding policies. He/she must have experience in the execution of resettlement planning and implementation. He/she must possess good interpersonal and communication skills: Fluency in English is essential and knowledge of Swahili is desirable.
