Project Engineer:

• The Project Engineer shall assist the Senior Project Engineer in monitoring the project by identifying and initiating remedial actions to avoid or mitigate implementation delays, cost overruns, poor quality of studies, designs, and works, unmitigated environmental impacts, social misconduct,  and  other problems. He/she shall also be;
• Responsible for overseeing railway infrastructure rehabilitation  contracts.
• He/She shall also be supervising, examining, and reviewing rail infrastructure and contracts. Review of payment certificates for the contracts shall also be done  by  him/her under  the  supervision  of the  Senior  Project Engineer. He/She shall also;
  • Monitor the supervising Consultants and Contractors at sites
  • Ensure the compliance of Environmental Health, Social and Safety  Safeguards in their respective Contracts.
  • Prepare and submit to the Senior Project Engineer, weekly and monthly progress reports.

Qualification and Experience:

Project Engineers must be a registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. Postgraduate qualifications in Railway Engineering are an added advantage. He/She must have at least 5 years of cumulative experience in the design, construction, or maintenance of civil infrastructure and in Project management. He/She must have participated in projects of similar nature for at least three (3) years in the last ten (10) years. He/She must have a working experience at least of two (2) years in Sub-Sahara Africa. In addition, He/She should have experience in using modern management software and tools for project management. Previous working experience or involvement in railway safety and in World Bank or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.  Fluency in written  and  spoken  English  is mandatory
