We have been awarded a project by the Ministry of Transport & Communications, Technical Committee, Airport Projects for “Consultancy Services for the Airport and Airstrips Master Plans for the proposed Musandam Airport and Diba & Madha Airstrips Project”, Sultanate of Oman.

Project Locations: in Khasab, Lima, Al Harf, & Bukha

According to the TOR, the Scope of Work is detailed as follows:

The project consists of 2 phases, as follows:

Phase I (Preliminary Study)

• To evaluate the proposed four locations (Al Harf, Bukha, Lima, & Existing Khasab) and other locations.
• To propose, study, and evaluate proposed locations to construct airstrips (asphalted/graded) at Dibba & Madha.
• For the existing Khasab airport, the consultant shall study the possibility of removing obstacles to allow for approach & departure from both ends of runway (Possibility of breaking out the mountains).
• To liaise and coordinate with other Ministries, authorities…etc to obtain all required permits and collect required data.
• To conduct a preliminary survey of the proposed locations and provide the geographical data such as elevations, obstacles, type of obstacles…etc.
• To liaise with MET department of Public Authority for Civil Aviation in order to install MET stations for 3 locations (Al Harf, Bukha & Lima).
• To prepare the technical and financial proposal for each location and make comparisons between the proposed locations and provide the advantages & disadvantages for each site.
• To recommend the most suitable site for the airport based on the above taking into account both technical and financial merits and challenges.

Phase II (Detailed Study of the Selected Site)

• To continue using the MET station to determine the final runway orientation of proposed airport & airstrips.
• To prepare a master plan for the selected location including all facilities of the airport & airstrips to meet national & International regulations (CAR 139 & ICAO).
• To prepare the financial concept cost estimate in detail including the cost of each facility.
• To prepare detailed an Environmental Impact Assessment study of selected site for airport & airstrips.
• To assist the Ministry of Transport in getting the Krookie from the Ministry of Housing for airport & airstrips.
